Ranthambore Safari Booking Details

All the procedures of Ranthambore Safari rides for Jeep safari and canter safari are fully managed and governed by the forest department of Ranthambore national park. Only 20% of the park is open for the tourism activities, which is divided into 10 different  Safari Zones or routes. Zone 1 to Zone 5 are considered core zones and Zone 6 to Zone 10 are buffer zones. All the Safari zones are internally linked to each other which balances the Tiger Population in each zone which increases Tiger Sightings in all the zones

All the visitors must note that choosing the safari drive & nature guide is not in our hands as the guide & driver allotment system is managed by the forest official of Ranthambore which works on a computerised automated system to assure the equal distribution of Safari vehicles among the zones.

As per the Ranthambore National Park Safari Booking policies, 5 jeeps of 6 seaters and 5 Canter of 20 seaters are allowed to enter in a single zone in a single shift. In Ranthambore the safari tours last for around 3.5 hours and are allowed in two shifts; morning shift and Evening shift. Visitors can choose the safari shift by their choice.

The Ranthambore National Park safari booking is done on a first come and first served basis, and visitors must pay the full safari fee in advance to book safari in Ranthambore. The safari vehicle is allotted on the day of safari and the fees that are paid for confirmed safari seats of Jeep and canter safari are non-refundable and non-transferable to any other person.

There are 2 types of Safari in Ranthambore National Park, Jeep safari (6 Seater) & Canter Safari (20 seater). Both the vehicles are operational in both Morning & Evening Shift and the safari duration generally 3.5 hours.

Jeep Safari – Jeep Safari or Gypsy safari in Ranthambore is done Via 4 by 4 maruti suzuki gypsy, which has the occupancy of max 6 visitors excluding guide & driver. If you are a photographer and you want to experience wildlife closely then jeep safari is always recommended.

Canter Safari – Canter safari in Ranthambore is done in an open bus, which has the capacity to occupy 20 visitors excluding guide & driver. If you travelling in a group and don’t want to spent much jeep safari, so canter is recommended in that situation

Most asked questions from the Visitors while going on to Jungle safari. Which Zone or Route should we choose while going on safari ?

The answer to this question is quite simple. The Tiger population is almost equal among all the zones or routes which makes Tiger sighting probability equally good in all the zones.

So, it is recommended to book a safari in any zone via any vehicle either jeep or canter.

With a decent population of Tigers in every zone of Ranthambore National Park makes Tiger sighting probability on the higher side of around 90%.

Ranthambore forest has the higher visibility around the forest as it is the least dense forest and the grasslands around the lakes makes the Tiger sighting easy in both summer and winters.

Summers in Ranthambore bring higher chances of Tiger sightings when compared to winters, as the temperature shoots up to 46 degrees and the big cats like tigers are hot blooded animals, so they need water very frequently. So they stay around the water bodies which makes sightings easy.

Zone 1 – Singh Dwar

One of the most scenic zones, Zone 1 is rich in lakes, dense forest cover, and rocky terrain. It is well-known for frequent tiger sightings and diverse wildlife, making it a highly preferred zone.

Zone 2 – Jogi Mahal

Located near Padam Talao, Zone 2 offers classic Ranthambore landscapes with ancient ruins and open grasslands. Tigers, crocodiles, and marsh birds are often spotted here.

Zone 3 – Padam Talao

This zone includes the iconic Padam Talao lake, the largest water body in the park. It is famous for tiger sightings near water, especially during warmer months.

Zone 4 – Rajbagh

Zone 4 is a balance of lakes, grasslands, and ruins. It has a high density of tigers and leopards and is one of the best zones for photography and birdwatching.

Zone 5 – Rajbagh Extension

An extension of Zone 4, this area offers similar terrain with slightly fewer vehicles. It is excellent for spotting deer, sloth bears, and occasionally tigers.

Zone 6 – Lakarda & Anantpura

Known for sloth bear sightings, Zone 6 features hilly terrain and dry deciduous forests. Leopard sightings are also common here.

Zone 7 – Chidikho

This zone is less crowded and offers peaceful safaris. It is ideal for bird lovers and for spotting striped hyenas, sambars, and occasional tigers.

Zone 8 – Balas

Zone 8 features open scrubland and hills. Though tiger sightings are less frequent compared to core zones, it offers a raw jungle experience with good chances of leopard sightings.

Zone 9 – Kuwalji

A quieter zone with mixed terrain, Zone 9 is ideal for travelers seeking a relaxed safari. It is home to nilgai, chinkara, and a variety of birds.

Zone 10 – Aantri

Zone 10 lies on the outer edge of the park and is known for its rugged beauty. Tigers are occasionally sighted here, along with hyenas and desert-adapted wildlife.

The forest officials can close the Park without any prior notice to visitors.

In case of any increase in safari fees after the booking or incomplete occupancy visitors will be liable to pay the difference at the boarding point.

All visitors are requested to report at the boarding point 10 min before the departure time of the safari.
